New OpenVPN setup now available
In order to make the installation process simpler and the usage straightforward, we have just updated the OpenVPN setup for Windows operating systems. The main benefit of new OpenVPN installation is that it performs auto-login (username and password are saved once during setup and not required every time a new connection is made).

Existing clients that have purchased a premium package with access to OpenVPN connection, namely

should uninstall OpenVPN and reinstall it by following the above listed tutorials.

HideIpVPN OpenVPN Config Changes to Improve Connectivity
In order to improve the quality of online vpn connections using HideIpVPN we have made several changes to the config files. All our premium clients that use OpenVPN should update the configuration files. Please read the and follow the below described steps.

Firstly, go to C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config and delete the hideipvpn folder.

Next, if you are subscribed to the Premium VPN US/UK/DE – PPTP, OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec package download the new config: hideipvpn.zip and place it in C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config folder.

If you are subscribed to the Premium VPN Canada – PPTP, OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec package download the new config from here: hideipvpn_ca.zip and place it in C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config folder.

If you use our VPN from China or other country that restricts the access to VPN services, please use this config: hideipvpn_china_users.zip.

Unzip the config file. You should see the new folder named hideipvpn.

Go to Start -> All Programs -> OpenVPN and start OpenVPN GUI. You may receive the following message: OpenVPN GUI is already running. If so, right click on the OpenVPN symbol (in the icon bar) and select Disconnect.

In the toolbar, you should now see a symbol for OpenVPN (two red screens). Right click on the symbol with the mouse, choose Hideipvpn-UK or Hideipvpn-US and click Connect.

Enter your username and password and click OK.

Mac OS X users:

download hideipvpn.zip (zip file). Remove all config files from ~/Library/openvpn/ folder.

Extract the files and copy the extracted configuration files to ~/Library/openvpn/

Vista Problems

Different versions of VISTA sometimes behave in the same and, with the installation of updates, sometimes change. In some cases, OpenVPN works fine for a while, and then stops working from Vista changes. In cases where the click of the right mouse button does not solve the problem, you can install UAC so that the default software can work as an administrator.

– Open the “Control Panel”.
– Under “User Account and Family” settings click “Add or remove user account”.
– Click on your user account.
– Click on “Go to the main User Account page”.
– Under “Make changes to your user account” click on “Change security settings”.

Under “Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure” click to unselect the “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer”. Click on the Ok button.
You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready.

Disconnect

To disconnect, just right click on the OpenVPN server you where connected and select Disconnect.
